1st May 2008 - LABOUR DAY in normal terms - but @ the Cradle Bangalore, it was a TEAM effort and filled with fun. The Cradle Staff and doctors had some painting competition to see who is the best "ARTIST" - in the spirit of it and also for fun. They managed to PAINT the walls with various themes representing the Cradle and in the process the Nursing Superintendent's team won the first prize though in the hearts EVERYONE was a winner!

10th to 12th March 2008 - were special days in the Cradle Bangalore story. The month long first anniversary celebrations continued till this date, when Dr. Andrew Barker, Paediatric Urologist and Dr. Bernard Cresswell, Paediatric Anaesthetist - both from the Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, Perth, Australia were here as visiting guest speakers on the invitation ot the Cradle CEO Dr. Kishore Kumar. Not only they did a CME for the local Paediatricians in the presence one of the senior most academic Paediatrician Dr. D. G. Benakappa, but also they guided the local Paediatric Surgeons on the use of Deflux for reflux treatment of the kidneys in the local Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health (IGICH), Bangalore. Also they donated some equipment to the IGICH.

The Cradle Bangalore celebrated its first anniversary in Style - with ZERO percent mortality! They had a week long celebrations to commemorate their 600 babies. The week was kicked off with a THANK YOU DINNER for all the doctors' on 12th Feb 2008. Then over a 3 day period from 15th to 17th Feb 2008 - they had Baby competitions and saw all sorts of babies Chubby, Crying, Smiling, Look alikes, Stars..........and the mothers' had a gala time visiting all the stalls and also learning from Chef Emanuel about some cooking tips & singing Lullabies to their babies and winning prizes for the same!!! Dads worked hard to win the Nappy Change competition. On the whole it was a gala time for all parents, children, babies and grand parents - not to forget the EVER smiling staff at the Cradle Bangalore.

February 15th, 16th and 17th 2008 are very special days in the dairy of the Cradle Bangalore - having successfully completed one year with more than 600 smiling babies (though they came out crying!!) with ZERO percent mortality (both mothers and babies) - inspite of very complicated type of babies in a country with the highest mortality in the world! This celebration can't go without participation of our babies - hence the BABY CELEBRATION TIMES are here and we are having lots of fun activities for parents, grand parents, would-be-parents along with babies on these 3 days. We welcome all our patrons to come and ACTIVELY participate.

22nd November 2007 - You would have been forgiven - if you had mistaken to have been in Sunny Queensland in Australia @ the Cradle Bangalore. Cradle hosted the Oz girls (medical students from University of QLD) Katy, Lauren, Lauren and Maia - to observe the deliveries being conducted and to learn about the birthing process. 17th November 2007 - is a memorable day for all the babies & moms in the Cradle - The 2nd and long awaited antenatal reunion was held - all the babies and moms had time to "Socialise" and babies learning to make friends. Also "Get back into shape" complimentary classes were launched on that day - These will be held every Wednesday between 5 & 6 pm for all the mothers who have delivered in the Cradle to meet their physiotherapist and learn tips as to how to get back into shape after delivery and also raise the awareness of problems after childbirth.

18th October 2007 - was a special day in the "history of the Cradle Bangalore" - because in addition to DELIVERING JOY to 320 new parents, the Cradle also DELIVERED JOY to more than 200 WOMEN affected with various GYNEC problems, and the 200th patient happened to be a woman who had a UTERUS with 4.5 Kgs "fibroid" - what a way to lose weight and be fit! Dr. Prakash Kini performed the surgery and removed this huge fibroid and the woman was discharged home 36 hours later - with a smile on her face - REALLY DELIVERED JOY!!

09th October 2007 - The Cradle Bangalore is known for its HARD WORKING TEAM to DELIVER JOY to lots of families - so far they have succeeded in DELIVERING more than 320 babies (as of 09.10.2007) in less than 9 months since its inauguration in Janauary 2007. Hence it was CELEBRATION time and PARTY TIME for all the staff & the hardworking team. So they had a THANK YOU ALL PARTY for all their staff and the staff had a gala time celebrating their success. 26th September 2007 - a special day for Cradle and all the babies in Bangalore because The Cradle Bangalore hosted the FIRST BANGALORE NEONATAL NURSES CONFERENCE with 2 neonatal nurse practitioners from Sydney Australia - Brenda and Mi Fong giving lectures along with Sister Ruth Patterson from the Cradle Bangalore - presenting their thoughts, experiences and knowledge to all the participants as to how to "improve the neonatal nursing care" in India.

06th July 2007 The Cradle Bangalore will be hosting Dr. Gauri Saha - a medically qualified Doctor and mother of 2 children - Certified Infant Massage Instructor with IAIM,UK- currently practising the same in the UK. She will be available to "teach the importance of baby massage, techniques beneficial to the babies in a huge way". 27th June 2007 The huge fibroid which weighed just over 5 Kgs was removed successfully by Dr. Prakash Kini - to the joy of the lady who lost just over 6 Kgs in less than half an hour - what a way to go - no need for weight loss treatments!! She also happened to be the Cradle's 249th Patient (in patient) and 1330th out-patient! |

12th May 2007 was a very special day for ALL THE NEWBORNS in INDIA and for the Cradle Bangalore. It was on this day that FUTURE KIDZ - a non-governmental organisation launched Neonatal Screening Programme in India in the premises of Cradle Bangalore. His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Ravishankar - Founder of Art of Living graced the occasion and blessed The Cradle Bangalore and Future Kidz with success and also wished JOY and PEACE for everyone in the world. Dr. Siddaraju, Director of Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health, Bangalore presided over the function.

| 7th May 2007. Parents Laxmi and Manjunath are excited to have their "new born baby" home finally after nearly 2 1/2 months. Their baby boy was born at 26 weeks of gestation with barely 800 gms - after just over 2 months in the Cradle Neonatal Intensive Care - he was discharged home today weighing 1.800 Kgs. |

18th March 2007 was a special day at the Cradle Bangalore. It was a "Day out" for all the Cradle mothers' - who had a ball at our first mothers' meet. Arun ?enjoyed his role of Dad in changing the nappy. Ashwini, Roma and Garima all had diffent thoughts - I can get used to this everyday, I can have a peaceful lunch, I can do with a small nap!! etc. Look out for more mothers' group meetings.

The Cradle Bangalore recently had Dr. Yatheesh (15.03.2007), Emergency Physician from Apollo Hospitals Bangalore teach the techniques of Basic Life Support (BLS) to all the staff and the Guest Relations.
The BLS training was "hands on training" with very good feedback from all the staff concerned. We at the Cradle Bangalore are trying to implement all the international standards - this is
another example of our effort in achieving international care.

Infection control seminar

We recently held the infection control seminar to teach & improve the capabilities of all our staff in their care to reduce infection rates to match the western world.
Johnson & Johnson kindly agreed to do the seminar, Mr. Rajaram from J&J teaching the staff.

Marvellous, fantastic, joyful, so soothing, wonderful…………………..These are some of the adjectives that have been used to describe the feeling when people have delivered here at the Cradle Bangalore. Some couple have even asked us for a month’s package for them to stay here such was their joyful experience.
At the Cradle Bangalore we have already DELIVERED JOY to 19 couple in the first month of operations – A total of 20 babies born to 19 sets of parents. Each and every birth was special at Cradle. We even had an unexpected “sick baby” requiring ventilatory support and all the modern modalities of treatment to “save the baby” and we were delighted to look after our first premature baby born at 33 weeks gestation who went home today (23.02.2007).

The First Baby
The first baby was born in The Cradle Bangalore on 23rd January 2007. Proud parents of the baby boy are Rashmi and Nischal. "Bombay Annapurna" is the proud great-grandmother.
Dr. Prakash Kini, Consultant Obstetrician and Dr. Praveen Prasad, Consultant Anaesthetist who helped the baby into this world were facilitated by the Cradle Staff.

Christmas celebration
We at The Cradle celebrated Christmas by inviting Santa to “Deliver Christmas Joy” to our employees and their children. Mrs. Xavier, the nursing superintendent, took an active part in organizing carols and all the other festivities.
All in all we at The Cradle cannot wait for the New Year to begin as our inpatient services will open with a BANG and the wait will be over. You will hear about us on the radio and read about us in the newspaper.

We organized a seminar on Asthma at The Inner Wheel Club of Bangalore on December 21st. The Speaker was Dr Kishore Kumar, CEO and MD of The Cradle. The topic got an overwhelming response from the members and Dr Kishore was flooded with questions about Asthma.

The pharmacy which carries vaccinations, prescription drugs, and over-the-counter medications is also open with free home delivery if needed. |
